How to play YourScore Fantasy Football: the complete guide

How YourScore Fantasy Football works: earn your transfer budget in a weekly knowledge round, draft any XI you like at real prices, score off real PL matches. The full guide.

New to YourScore Fantasy Football and wondering how a fantasy game can have no fixed budget? Here's everything you need, in less time than it takes to argue about a captain pick.

The quick version:

  • Answer a weekly knowledge round. Right answers build your transfer budget, and harder questions pay more.
  • Draft any XI you like at real player prices. No position locks. Captain scores double.
  • Real Premier League performances score your team all weekend. Know more, spend more, win the league.

How do I get a transfer budget?

You earn it. Every gameweek opens with a knowledge round: real football questions, and every correct answer adds to your budget.

Nail the hard ones and you walk into the draft richer than everyone in your league. Fluff them and you're shopping in the bargain bins while your rivals sign who they want.

No speed bonuses, no tricks. Just what you actually know about football.

How does the draft work?

Take your budget and build your XI at real player prices. Here's the fun part: nobody tells you how much to spend where.

Want to blow the lot on a front three and gamble at the back? Your team, your call. Pick a captain for double points and a vice in case he's benched.

How does my team score?

Off the real matches. Goals, assists, clean sheets, all counted from what actually happens on the pitch over the weekend.

Saturday 3pm suddenly matters in about six places at once. You'll see.

What are chips and how do I earn them?

Chips are one-week powers, like Triple Captain. You earn one roughly every four gameweeks you play, and they bank up if you save them.

Two things to know. The weeks don't need to be consecutive, so missing one doesn't wipe your progress. And chips can never be bought. Nothing in YourScore Fantasy Football is pay-to-win, ever.

What if I miss the deadline?

The round opens Tuesday. Deadline is Saturday. Miss it and the game auto-drafts you a minimum-budget XI, so you still score and your league spot doesn't freeze.

But auto-drafted weeks don't earn chip credit, and your league will notice. They always notice.

How do leagues work?

Friend leagues are the whole point. Monthly and gameweek leagues mean there's always a fresh race, so one bad month never kills your season. A season table runs underneath for the long game.

And after each deadline, everyone's XI goes public in your league. You'll see exactly what your rival earned in the knowledge round and exactly what he did with it. His team is a readout of how much football he actually knows. Enjoy that responsibly.

When can I start?

YourScore Fantasy Football launches mid-August, in time for gameweek 1 of the 2026/27 season.

Until then, the knowledge that becomes your budget is exactly what YourScore's daily quizzes already measure. The players who show up to gameweek 1 sharp will have a real edge over the ones who show up cold. One of those wins the first month.

So, honestly: how big a budget do you reckon your football knowledge is worth? Find out today.
