The best FPL alternatives for 2026/27 (and what's actually different)

YourScore Fantasy Football

Ours, so read accordingly. But we'll say it straight. In every other game on this page, your transfers are rationed by the calendar. In YourScore Fantasy Football, your knowledge earns them.

You build your 15-man squad once, from the same budget as everyone else, and field eleven each week. Then each gameweek a football knowledge round earns your transfer credits: right answers earn moves, harder questions earn more, credits bank up to five, and moves beyond your credits cost points. Pay for it in knowledge or pay for it in points. A perfect round mints a bonus wildcard, which means a dead team is never dead here. One big round and you've minted your comeback. No position locks, no stuck players, chips earned never bought, and leagues run monthly, weekly and with your friends.

The honest trade-off: we're new. YourScore Fantasy Football launches mid-August, for gameweek 1 of 2026/27, so you won't find ten years of stats sites and podcasts around it yet. Fantrax draft leagues

Every player belongs to one manager only. Once your rival drafts the obvious captain pick, he's gone, and template teams become impossible. Fantrax is free for standard PL draft leagues and endlessly customisable.

The catch: draft leagues need six to twelve of you properly committed, every week, all season. A dead draft league is sadder than a bad FPL rank.

Verdict: the deepest fix if your league is reliable. Flaky friends need not apply.

Sorare

Fantasy where the players are digital cards you own and trade. On Sorare your squad carries over between seasons instead of resetting every August, which is genuinely different.

But it's a money game at the competitive end. Card prices move with form and hype, and you're half manager, half trader whether you like it or not.

Verdict: for collectors who enjoy the market as much as the football.

Sky Fantasy Football

Sky's game is free, familiar in format, and has historically offered up to £50,000 for the overall winner. That's a lot more than FPL pays for a season of your life.

It's still the same genre though. Same budget as everyone, same value picks, same lookalike leader pack by Christmas. Check the site for confirmed 2026/27 prizes before you plan the celebration.

Verdict: change of scenery, not a change of game.

Telegraph Fantasy Football and Dream Team

The newspaper games. Simpler than FPL, five minutes of admin a week, and Dream Team advertised a £60,000 top prize last season. Neither had confirmed 2026/27 details when we published, so treat prize figures as last season's.

Less to manage also means less separating you from the bloke who set his team in August and vanished.

Verdict: casual money shots. Fine as a side bet.

UCL Fantasy

UEFA's official game is free and well made. Short bursts around Champions League nights, from September. Forces you to actually learn other leagues.

The calendar is the limit: matchday clusters with long gaps. Works as a second game, struggles as your main one.

Verdict: the European nights side dish.

The rest, quickly

Kickbase covers Bundesliga, LaLiga and MLS, not the Premier League, so it's off the list for UK players. Draft Fantasy does auction drafts well. FanTeam is real-money with all the 18+ caveats. FPL's own Draft and Challenge modes are free lighter twists inside the official ecosystem.

Pick before August

Whatever you choose, choose it before gameweek 1. The only guaranteed bad season is the one you spend deciding.
